ENDOMETRIOSIS: another cause of infertility

ENDOMETRIOSIS: another cause of infertility

ENDOMETRIOSIS is a disorder in which tissue called the endometrium grows outside your uterus.
It is commonly found in the pelvic floor and nearby organs. It is found in 1 in 10 women of reproductive age. The rate is high, and it can cause infertility.

It causes inflammation and can cause scar tissue to form. This can result in misshapen organs and reduce the capacity of your reproductive system. Though it is not a life-threatening disease, it is a big obstacle for getting pregnant because the ovaries are replaced with chocolate cysts. It can also decrease the quality of eggs and embryos. It can cause pain during intercourse and the couple might avoid having sex because of the pain which means less chance of pregnancy.

Currently, we don’t know the root cause of endometriosis, but we have effective treatments. We can use medicine or operation with laparoscopy which is a much less invasive treatment than a traditional operation. If you still have infertility after the operation, the next step would be using reproductive technology to increase the chance of pregnancy.

Always look after your health and meet gynaecologists for regular heath checks. Take immediate action if any abnormalities are found. Following these routines, your chance of pregnancy is becoming really close.
