It was the day that I had lunch with my naughty girl gang. They got married one by one and were having babies. What was I doing? The conversation at the table was heavily about babies. I was collecting information from them and realised that it is not easy to have a baby. They were sharing tricks like positions to have a girl or a boy or foods that will increase your eggs. Each person had a different experience of having a baby. All this discussion made me think about whether I should freeze my eggs, while I am not ready to have one of my own now.
I came home to look up information about egg freezing and decided that I should go ahead with it. Whenever I’m ready to have a baby, I will have eggs that are ready to be fertilized. Then, I made an appointment for a pre-egg freezing health check with Bangkok IVF Center. My friend told me that the doctor here is very kind. The doctor gave me a very good consultation about egg freezing. After a session with him, I was very confident that it was time to freeze my eggs. I’m 28 years old, and the doctor told me it is a good age because the eggs now will be of much better quality than those when I’m older.
The first time they performed an ultrasound on my ovaries, we found that I have a good amount of eggs. The doctor gave me some supplements to prepare my eggs for collection. Then, I waited for my next menstruation to get another ultrasound to make sure that I’m ready for the treatment. After that was the time to get an injection to induce the eggs to be bigger. I can tell you that it is not as scary as you think. The injection doesn’t hurt at all. The nurse calmly explained the injection process to me and was very nice about it. On the egg collection day, it was a breeze. I woke up and the doctor told me that he collected 20 eggs while I was out. There was some cake and hot chocolate too. I just had a nice sleep during the collection process and woke up without feeling any pain at all.
